Riyan Parag Fined for Vaping in Dressing Room

Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been fined 25% of his match fee and handed one demerit point after being caught vaping in the dressing room during his team’s IPL match against Punjab Kings.

The incident occurred during RR’s chase of PBKS’ 222, which they managed to achieve with four balls in hand. Parag admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee, Amit Sharma.

BCCI Exploring Further Action

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that it is exploring other options to initiate proceedings for stringent action against the erring team, its officials, and player/s to ensure that the reputation of the IPL remains intact.

This is not the first incident of its kind, as less than two weeks ago, RR team manager Romi Bhinder was fined INR 1 lakh for using his mobile phone in the team dugout during a game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Incident Comes to Light on Social Media

Both incidents came to light after pictures were posted on social media. In Parag’s case, pictures of him vaping appeared on social media shortly after the game against PBKS.

The BCCI has warned teams and players to adhere strictly to established guidelines and protocols to maintain the integrity of the game.
