Mithun and Shibli Centuries Give Rupganj and Dhaka Leopards Huge Wins in DPL
It was a dominant day in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as Legends of Rupganj and Dhaka Leopards both secured massive victories with impressive all-round performances.
At BKSP Ground No. 4, Legends of Rupganj crushed Gulshan Cricket Club by 205 runs after scoring a huge total of 354 runs. The star of the innings was Ashiqur Rahman Shibli, who played a brilliant knock of 119 runs from 130 balls, hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes.
After opener Habibur Rahman Sohan scored a quick 39, Shibli built a strong 155-run partnership with Robiul Islam, who added 65 runs. Later, Samiun Basir Ratul smashed 47 off just 30 balls, while captain Mahedi Hasan added a fiery 33 from only 18 deliveries to push the total beyond 350.
Chasing the big target, Gulshan Cricket Club never really recovered. Spinner Nasum Ahmed ripped through the batting lineup with a superb four-wicket haul. Shahriar Sakib fought hard with 61 runs, but Gulshan were eventually bowled out for 149.
Dhaka Leopards Defeat Brothers Union
In another match, Dhaka Leopards defeated Brothers Union by 120 runs in a high-scoring contest at the Cricketers Academy Ground.
Batting first, Dhaka Leopards posted 351 for 7, thanks mainly to a stunning century from captain Mohammad Mithun. After a steady start from Iftakhar Hossain Ifti, who scored 51, Mithun completely took control of the game with aggressive batting.
The experienced batter smashed 112 runs from just 86 balls, including 8 huge sixes and 3 fours. Moin Khan also played an excellent innings of 69 runs from 44 balls to strengthen the total.
Brothers Union started the chase positively but failed to build big partnerships. Several batters got starts, but none could turn them into match-winning innings. Golam Kibria remained unbeaten on 51, yet Brothers Union were all out for 231.
Alauddin Babu and Sheikh Parvez Jibon both picked up three wickets each to seal a comfortable win for Dhaka Leopards.
